A fabulous antique French guard chain made up of fancy, open-worked links fashioned in 18ct gold leading to a ring clasp at the end.
Guard chains were popular in the 19th Century and were usually adorned with a pocket watch or lorgnette and were long enough to be tucked into a belt.
The chain measures 60 inches in length and can be worn as one long chain as it was back in the day or looped twice around the neck if preferred.
